Several days after Christmas this past year, Anne Marie and I took a trip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge just south of Cambridge, MD on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The abundance of wildlife in the refuge is an amazing draw for any photographer interested in wildlife and landscape photography.
We left without any idea of whether we would be able to get into the refuge but we were determined to make the trip. To our delight, despite the federal government causing shut downs all over the country in National Parks, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was able to keep the refuge open.
Through two days of exploring muddy, marshy hiking trails and the always enjoyable Wildlife Drive where you’re guaranteed to see thousands of Canada geese, tundra swans, and countless bald eagle pairings, Anne Marie and I were able to come away from some incredible images to share with you all. Above you can see some shots of a peregrine falcon hunting and the formerly endangered Delmarva fox squirrel.
Let us know what you think and go check out the Wildlife Refuge sometime!
